2 Feb
Summary
- Elon Musk criticized Christopher Nolan's casting choices for The Odyssey.
- Lupita Nyong'o's role as Helen of Troy has not been officially confirmed.
- The Odyssey is the first narrative feature filmed entirely with IMAX cameras.

Elon Musk has voiced strong criticism against director Christopher Nolan concerning casting speculation for the film "The Odyssey." Musk responded on X to an objection regarding reports that Lupita Nyong'o might portray Helen of Troy, a role described in ancient texts as fair-skinned. Musk stated that Nolan "has lost his integrity" over this potential casting.
While Variety first reported Nyong'o's involvement in November 2024, her role has not been officially confirmed. The film, officially revealed as "The Odyssey" in December, features a star-studded cast including Matt Damon, Tom Holland, and Zendaya. Travis Scott is the latest addition, revealed in a recent NFL game spot.
"The Odyssey" is also making technical history as the first narrative feature to be shot entirely with IMAX cameras. A new "blimp" casing system allows for clear sound capture even in quiet scenes, which Nolan described as a "game-changer" for intimate performances.
