The production, titled "Rob Lake Magic With Special Guests the Muppets," is now in previews and is set to officially open on November 11. The show will feature Lake showcasing his signature large-scale illusions, while also incorporating scenes and performances featuring Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy, and other beloved Muppet characters.
According to the show's producer, Joe Quenqua, the idea of bringing the Muppets to Broadway has been around for over 50 years, and they are honored to be the ones to finally make that dream a reality. The Muppets and illusionist Rob Lake are a perfect match, as they both operate in the realm of imagination and storytelling, creating a truly magical experience for audiences.
As Lake explains, "The Muppets and I both live in that space between imagination and storytelling. When they appear onstage, everyone becomes a child again -- that's real magic." This unique collaboration promises to delight both longtime Muppet fans and newcomers alike, as the iconic characters make their long-awaited debut on the Great White Way.
