Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz are set to reprise their iconic roles in a new installment of Universal's "The Mummy" franchise. After months of negotiations, the studio has officially closed deals for the beloved actors to return.
The action-horror-comedy film is scheduled to hit theaters on May 19, 2028. While plot details remain under wraps, Fraser and Weisz will once again portray Rick and Evelyn O'Connell, respectively.
The original "The Mummy," released in May 1999, was a critical and commercial success, grossing over $422.5 million worldwide. This film blended action, adventure, and horror, significantly boosting Fraser's career and revitalizing Universal's monster movie legacy.
Sean Daniel, a producer on the original films, returns to produce the new feature. He will be joined by William Sherak, James Vanderbilt, and Paul Neinstein of Project X Entertainment.
