Mumbai's cinematic landscape is set for a significant transformation in the coming months. Two new movie venues, Cinepolis Shaan and the refurbished Premiere Gold, are expected to commence operations shortly. Cinepolis Shaan, a two-screen property in Vile Parle East, is nearing completion on the site of the former Shaan Cinema. Premiere Gold, located on Sandhurst Road, is also ready to reopen after nearly two years of extensive renovations, promising modern comforts.
In parallel, several established theaters are temporarily closing for upgrades. Sun City in Vile Parle East and Roxy in Charni Road will shut down in early August for renovations. Mukta A2 Cinemas, owner of these properties, anticipates Roxy could be closed for approximately 45 days, while Sun City might require a couple of months. Other Mukta A2 venues like Jai Hind Cinema and Topiwala are also slated for future renovations.
Furthermore, the three-screen Sterling Cineplex in South Mumbai will undergo a phased refurbishment, ensuring two screens remain operational throughout the process. These extensive upgrades across multiple venues are strategically planned to be completed before the Diwali release of the major film 'Ramayana', aiming to capitalize on the anticipated surge in moviegoers.
