Multilingual Period Drama 'YANA...?' Begins Filming Across India

In October 2025, production has begun on the historical period film 'YANA...?', set in the year 1840. The movie is being produced by Soft Touch Entertainment and directed by Mr. Prajapati. 'YANA...?' will be a multilingual production, with versions in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam.

According to the production team, the film delves into the events and social dynamics of mid-19th century India, blending rich historical storytelling with musical elements that connect traditional and contemporary influences. Lead actress Karnika Mandal has described her role as one of the most challenging of her career, and she has undertaken extensive research on women's lives during the 1840s to prepare for her performance.

Rahul B Kumar appears in a key role in the film, which he has described as "very different" from his previous work. The screenplay and dialogues have been written by Pinku Dube and Sonu Dandoria, while music composer Dev Chauhan is developing the film's soundtrack, which will combine authentic traditional compositions from the period with modern arrangements.

Principal photography for 'YANA...?' has begun in Mumbai, with the production set to move to various historical locations across India, including sites in and around Varanasi, to recreate the authentic atmosphere of the 19th century. The filmmakers have also confirmed that the multilingual versions of the film will be adapted with cultural and linguistic nuances tailored to each regional audience, rather than being simple dubbed versions.
