Mötley Crüe Wins Lawsuit Against Mick Mars
29 Jan
Summary
- Band legally allowed to fire guitarist Mick Mars.
- Mars owes Mötley Crüe over $750,000 in advance money.
- Arbitrator cited Mars' deteriorated guitar playing.

An arbitrator has ruled in favor of Mötley Crüe, determining that the band legally possessed the right to terminate guitarist Mick Mars. The decision, made public recently, found that Mars' guitar playing had significantly deteriorated. As a consequence, the arbitrator concluded that Mars is not entitled to proceeds from touring, as he voluntarily stopped performing.
Further to the ruling, Mick Mars owes Mötley Crüe a considerable sum. He received a $1.5 million advance in 2019, which was intended to be recouped through touring. As Mars missed 69 shows, he must repay much of this amount. After accounting for his stake in the band, Mars ultimately owes Mötley Crüe $244,293.
