The "Mystery Science Theater 3000" revival, officially titled "The RiffTrax Experiments," has concluded its Kickstarter campaign with remarkable success, raising $2,695,849 from 22,189 backers. This figure sets new records for RiffTrax on the platform. Original series stars Michael J. Nelson, Kevin Murphy, and Bill Corbett are set to reprise their roles for four new episodes, alongside other returning cast members.
Production for the new episodes is scheduled to commence early this summer in Minneapolis, MN. The first of the four films to be riffed will be "Deathsport," followed by "Space Raiders" and "Sting of Death," with the fourth film remaining a surprise. The initial episode will debut in theaters via Fathom Entertainment, with all four episodes becoming available on RiffTrax's website later this year.
