Motörhead guitarist Phil Campbell died from multi-organ failure, an inquest has revealed. The 64-year-old musician's death on March 13th followed complications from necessary surgeries.
Campbell, who played with Motörhead from 1984 until 2015, had received two liver transplants and undergone bowel surgery at the Royal Free Hospital in London earlier this year. While one liver transplant was successful, further complications arose, leading to his rapid deterioration.
The inquest at St Pancras Coroner's Court concluded that Campbell's death could not have been prevented. It was noted that he had previously suffered from Hepatitis C, which had been treated, and had a history of excessive alcohol consumption, although he had maintained sobriety for seven years prior to his passing.
