Director Simon McQuoid has shared details about hidden easter eggs within the recently released Mortal Kombat II. For fans eager to re-watch the action-packed sequel, McQuoid pointed out specific visual elements to look for.
Edenia, a significant realm in the Mortal Kombat universe and the home of characters like Kitana and Jade, is introduced early in the film. McQuoid noted that the realm possesses its own distinct visual language, including recurring costume motifs designed by Cappi Ireland. One such subtle detail is the incorporation of an Edenian flower into various costume pieces, which may be easily missed on a first viewing.
Beyond the Edenian flower, other easter eggs are present, particularly in scenes featuring Karl Urban's character, Johnny Cage. The film, praised for its faithfulness to the video games, offers viewers the opportunity to dissect every frame. Mortal Kombat II is available digitally now and will be released on 4K UHD on July 28th.
