Morrissey Cancels Valencia Gig Over Noise
12 Mar
Summary
- Morrissey cancelled a Valencia concert due to sleep deprivation.
- Festival noise from loud techno singing disrupted his rest.
- The 66-year-old released his 14th solo album this month.

British musician Morrissey will not perform a scheduled concert in Valencia, Spain, due to extreme sleep deprivation. The former frontman of The Smiths cited disturbances from local festivities, which included loud techno singing and megaphone announcements audible in his hotel room. In a statement posted on his website, Morrissey declared that these circumstances rendered the concert "impossible."
The 66-year-old artist, who had driven from Milan to Valencia, indicated that the noise left him in a "catatonic state." The statement emphasized that the show was not canceled but impossible to proceed with, leaving ticket holders uncertain about rescheduling or refunds.
Morrissey is currently on tour promoting his 14th solo album, "Make-up Is a Lie," released earlier this month. The "Las Fallas" festival in Valencia, a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage event, is known for its vibrant street parties and fireworks. The festival is set to culminate on March 19 with the traditional burning of large papier-maché sculptures.
