Dey, who has been on a world tour for three years, also appealed for continued audience support for independent musicians.
Born and raised in Mumbai, Dey highlighted India's cultural diversity and values as foundational to her identity. She described her music as a representation of her origins, stating, "My music is the representation of my foundation, which is Mumbai, India." Her musical journey began in early childhood, nurtured by her father, a session musician. By age nine, she had her first bass guitar, and by eleven, she was performing, eventually gaining mentorship from jazz musician Louis Banks and performing with various international artists.
Dey's career includes collaborations with prominent figures such as Steve Vai, Jordan Rudess, and Willow Smith. She released her self-titled debut album in August 2023 and has been featured in projects like Coke Studio India and Gaan Bangla's Wind of Change. In 2024, she joined Willow Smith's new band, further solidifying her international presence.
