Moana Live-Action: Lin-Manuel Miranda's Song Replaced

The live-action adaptation of Disney's Moana is sparking conversations about its changes, including a notable alteration to the song 'We Know The Way.' Lin-Manuel Miranda's prominent vocals from the original hit, streamed nearly 300 million times, have been replaced by Moses Mackay in the new movie.

Director Thomas Kail explained that Miranda's original vocal was a demo and was kept in the first film due to his celebrity status. For the new adaptation, both Kail and Miranda wanted the track to feature a Polynesian voice, aligning with the film's themes. This collaboration between Kail and Miranda, who have a long working history, was a dream for both.

While critics have noted the film's similarity to the original, audience reception has been overwhelmingly positive, with Rotten Tomatoes showing a 90% fan score. However, the film's box office performance suggests it may be struggling to attract audiences beyond its core demographic.
