Mo Brings Plenty Bridges Cultures in 'Marshals'

Mo Brings Plenty, known for his role as Mo in "Yellowstone," is now a central figure in the new CBS spin-off, "Marshals." This new series allows Brings Plenty to continue his dedication to Indigenous storytelling and representation. He also serves as the American Indian affairs coordinator, a role he likens to a stunt coordinator but for cultural accuracy and spiritual respect.

His consulting work extends to other Taylor Sheridan productions, including "1923," where he advised on sensitive storylines. Brings Plenty emphasizes the importance of his role in ensuring that Native traditions and languages are respectfully portrayed, drawing from a deep understanding of history that predates easily searchable information.

Motivated by a desire to counter the underrepresentation of Native Americans on screen, Brings Plenty hopes his work will inspire Indigenous youth. He recalls hearing from young people who felt disconnected from their culture due to a lack of visible representation in mainstream media.

Before his acting career, Brings Plenty explored other artistic avenues, including modeling and touring as a drummer with the Native American new age rock band Brulé. Currently, he balances his professional commitments with staying connected to his community through ceremonies and grassroots meetings.

Looking ahead, Brings Plenty aspires to portray the legendary Native American rodeo rider Jackson Sundown. He remains committed to fostering greater involvement of Indigenous creatives both in front of and behind the camera.
