Yellowstone Actor Fights for Justice for Nephew

Actor and cultural consultant Mo Brings Plenty is publicly addressing the tragic and uninvestigated death of his nephew, Cole Brings Plenty, who died between seasons one and two of the series '1923.' Brings Plenty expressed deep heartbreak that his nephew's murder was allegedly dismissed as 'no foul play' by authorities, stating, "We're not letting it go." He is committed to seeking justice for his nephew, whom he described as "our future" and a carrier of Native traditions.

Brings Plenty, an enrolled member of the Lakota Nations, plays Mo on 'Yellowstone' and its successful spinoff 'Marshals.' He also serves as the American Indian Affairs coordinator for both shows, a role he finds deeply fulfilling as it allows for authentic storytelling. He is grateful for the opportunity to continue his character's arc and ensure Native representation is accurately portrayed, a mission that began with 'Yellowstone' and continues with 'Marshals,' which has been renewed for a second season.

Speaking on the storyline of 'Marshals,' Brings Plenty acknowledged the significant plot point of Monica Dutton's death. He explained that while initially surprised, he understands how it serves the narrative and strengthens the bond between characters like Kayce Dutton and the Broken Rock Reservation. He also highlighted the show's commitment to addressing real issues faced on reservations, such as water contamination and missing children, noting his contribution to a scene depicting grief and songs.
