Sanjay Gupta Demands Mithun Chakraborty Biopic

Filmmaker Sanjay Gupta has strongly advocated for a biographical film centered on veteran Indian actor Mithun Chakraborty. Gupta drew a striking parallel between Chakraborty's extraordinary life story and that of pop icon Michael Jackson, whose recent biopic, 'Michael,' has generated significant attention. Gupta emphasized Chakraborty's journey from humble beginnings in Kolkata to becoming a celebrated superstar in Indian cinema, stating his story is long overdue for a cinematic adaptation.

Mithun Chakraborty, who trained at the Film and Television Institute of India, achieved critical acclaim early in his career with the National Film Award for Best Actor for his role in 'Mrigayaa' (1976). Despite initial challenges in mainstream films, he ascended to become one of Bollywood's biggest stars throughout the 1980s and 1990s. His performance in the 1982 hit 'Disco Dancer' cemented his status, achieving widespread success in India and remarkably in the Soviet Union.
