Miriam Margolyes: Podcast Journey Becomes Life-Changing Adventure

TV director Simon Draper embarked on a project to create a podcast with Miriam Margolyes in 2024. Initially, Draper believed producing a podcast with the esteemed actress would be straightforward. However, Margolyes' spontaneous decision to embark on an extensive tour of Australia significantly altered the project's trajectory.

Draper made the significant decision to sell his guitar collection to fund his travel to Australia. Upon arrival, he found himself less involved in podcast production and more engaged in assisting Margolyes with daily tasks. Despite the logistical challenges, Draper witnessed Margolyes' soaring popularity firsthand, with sold-out shows and substantial earnings from Cameo requests.

The experience led to a profound personal transformation for Draper, inspired by Margolyes' candor and warmth. He described the two years spent working with Margolyes as life-changing, highlighting her strong opinions and genuine spirit. The documentary film, "Miriam Margolyes Made Me Me," captures the chaotic yet sparkling essence of their unique companionship.
