Lambert: Divorce Misery Fueled 75 Songs

Miranda Lambert has spoken about the significant impact her 2015 divorce from Blake Shelton had on her music. The country star described the period following their split as "misery" which she then channeled into her songwriting. She shared that this chapter of her life resulted in the creation of around 75 songs within a year after she moved back to Nashville.

These songs formed the basis of her sixth studio album, The Weight of These Wings. Lambert explained that unlike previous projects, this album allowed her to write from "raw emotion" without aiming for a specific sound or record. This freedom reportedly led to significant artistic growth. Lambert and Shelton were married for four years before their divorce. Both have since remarried; Lambert to Brendan McLoughlin in 2019, and Shelton to Gwen Stefani in 2021.
