A celebration of music, art, and culture, named Miraas, recently unfolded in Pune's Koregaon Park. The exhibition provided a unique platform for Punekars to experience traditional Indian crafts up close. Artisans like Rathod Babubhai demonstrated the meticulous handwork involved in Tangaliya weaving, known for its distinctive raised dot motifs.
Cheriyal paintings, glowing in warm folk tones and echoing mythological stories, were presented by artist Rakesh Nakash. The intricate beauty of Soof embroidery was also on display, with Dayaben Dohat sharing her expertise. Mohammed Yusuf Khatri, an acclaimed artist, highlighted the natural dyes and careful process behind Bagh prints.
Further enriching the cultural tapestry were the earthy tones of ceramic pottery, shaped and naturally colored by Abdul Samad. Hitesh Kumhar showcased terracotta sculptures, carrying forward a 950-year-old tradition. The exhibition also featured the deep reds and blacks of Bagh prints, leather puppets from the Tolu Bommalata tradition, Pattachitra scrolls, and palm leaf panels.
