Pierre Coffin, the co-creator and voice of the Minions, recently met with his producer with the intention of moving beyond the franchise, only to agree to direct another Minions film. Coffin humorously expresses a desire to escape the characters, stating, "Sometimes, I think I'll never escape them." His latest film, "Minions & Monsters," includes a plot where a Minion creates a Cthulhu-like creature with megalomaniacal ambitions.
Despite Coffin's initial reluctance, "Minions & Monsters" is described as the funniest and most dazzling entry in the series. The film incorporates elements of early Hollywood and features cameos from silent film stars. Coffin's creative environment is as distinctive as his work, with his Paris headquarters located in a multi-storey car park, a space that mirrors the Minions' origins which also began in 2007 at Illumination Studios Paris.
Coffin, who provides the voices for all Minions, finds writing their dialogue challenging due to its nonsensical nature. He expressed satisfaction with "Minions & Monsters," noting the unprecedented freedom he had, which paradoxically makes him nervous about its success. He remains resigned to voicing the Minions but suggests this might be his last directorial effort for the franchise, having found happiness in his unique work environment rather than material wealth.
