Mindy Kaling Builds TV Universe, Not Marvel's

Mindy Kaling's television shows are creating a 'Mindy Comedy Universe,' a collection that spans the experiences of women from their teens through their thirties.

Her most recent Hulu series, 'Not Suitable For Work,' concludes this arc, following her earlier work on 'Never Have I Ever' (high school) and 'The Sex Lives of College Girls' (college).

This new ensemble comedy focuses on ambitious twenty-somethings in New York City navigating their early careers. Kaling views this work as a deliberate trilogy, a creative approach she finds both engaging and intellectually stimulating.

Looking ahead, Kaling, who is in her mid-40s as of 2026, is keen to explore new narrative territories. She has expressed a desire to act in a show about single women in their 40s in Los Angeles and is also contemplating a unique take on stories like 'The Golden Girls,' potentially even venturing into drama.

Currently, Kaling is also involved with 'Running Point,' a Netflix series starring Kate Hudson, which has been renewed for a third season. She hopes 'Not Suitable For Work' will also be renewed.
