Mindy Kaling's New Show: Underdog Theme Returns?

Mindy Kaling recently launched "The Little Holiday Munchkin," a children's book and animated series in collaboration with Dunkin'. Narrated by Kaling, the story follows a small hero discovering belonging and highlights the importance of the "smallest part." A portion of book sales will support the Dunkin' Joy in Childhood Foundation.

Kaling expressed a deep personal connection to the underdog theme, stating that much of her work, including "The Mindy Project" and "Never Have I Ever," centers on underestimated characters. This narrative thread is expected to continue in her forthcoming project, "Not Suitable for Work."

The new series, tentatively titled "Murray Hill," is set in Manhattan's Murray Hill neighborhood and follows five ambitious twenty-somethings. The cast includes notable talents such as Ego Nwodim and Constance Wu, with Jay Ellis confirmed to play a surprise love interest. Kaling noted Ellis's performance would reveal a side of him previously unseen.
