Min Forsakes Millions for NewJeans Freedom
26 Feb
Summary
- Min rejected a 25.6 billion won payout for artist freedom.
- Court ruled NewJeans must stay with Ador until 2029.
- Min demands withdrawal of all lawsuits against fans and staff.

Min, who was dismissed as Ador's CEO in August 2024, has publicly stated her desire to withdraw all ongoing civil and criminal lawsuits. This includes actions against NewJeans members, external partners, former employees, and fans entangled in the dispute with label Hybe, a subsidiary of Ador.
This decision comes after a court ordered Hybe to pay Min 25.6 billion won in a put option dispute earlier this month. Min has emphasized that her primary motivation is the well-being and freedom of the K-pop group NewJeans, for whom she sees herself as a mentor.
However, a South Korea district court previously ruled in October 2024 that NewJeans must adhere to their contract with Ador, which is set to continue until 2029. Min's latest appeal seeks to resolve the ongoing conflict, allowing the artists and their supporters to move past the "unnecessary noise."
NewJeans, known for their distinctive blend of 90s R&B and pop, debuted in 2022 and quickly achieved significant global success. The protracted dispute with Hybe has caused considerable disruption in the K-pop industry, with fans worldwide expressing solidarity and urging for the group's release.
