Ventimiglia, known for his role in "This Is Us," was slated to portray Brian "Milk" Milkovich, an officer returning to his Joliet, Illinois, hometown to aid a struggling police force while pursuing personal redemption. The pilot was penned by Jeremy Carver and directed by David Ayer, who also served as an executive producer.
The project was conceived with a unique release model, similar to HBO Max's "The Pitt," featuring 15 episodes per season released annually. Ventimiglia's involvement followed his acclaimed performance on "This Is Us," for which he received multiple Emmy nominations.
