Milind Soman: Modelling was accidental, nude shoots were just work

Milind Soman recently shared insights into his early modeling career at the Bollywood Hungama OTT Fest 2025, revealing it was an unplanned path taken in his twenties. He pursued modeling mainly for the financial benefits during a time when earning money was a priority over long-term aspirations. His competitive swimming background, where he held national records for years, provided him with a strong sense of self-assurance and comfort with his body.

This inherent confidence translated seamlessly to the modeling world, even for provocative shoots. Soman described his willingness to experiment with bold photoshoots, including nude ones, as simply part of the work. He stated that these were not shocking or dramatic for him, but rather a professional undertaking. A memorable 1995 photoshoot, taken by Prabuddha Dasgupta, was particularly impactful, with his mother’s approval being the most important validation.

Soman views these early career moments as a phase of exploration and spontaneity from his youth, distinct from his later identity as an actor, fitness enthusiast, and runner. He concluded that his modeling journey unfolded naturally, shaping initial perceptions but not defining his ultimate goals, and he eventually moved forward without attachment to that period.
