The 9th Malaysia International Film Festival (MIFFest) is scheduled to take place from July 18 to July 25, 2026, in Kuala Lumpur. This year's festival, themed 'Resonance,' aims to highlight the lasting impact of cinema.
New ambassadors Zizan Razak and Jack Tan have been appointed, joining returning ambassadors Daiyan Trisha and Bront Palarae. The festival will open at MyTown Shopping Centre, with GSC International Screens as its official cinema partner and support from the National Film Development Corporation Malaysia.
Key programming includes the second edition of 'ASEAN On Screen,' focusing on Southeast Asian cinema and fostering regional connections. A new partnership with the Asian World Film Festival will extend the reach of these films internationally.
MIFFest is also collaborating with Kampong Film Lab on a program for emerging filmmakers centered on AI in creative processes. Additionally, a new Russian Film Week will offer free screenings of recent Russian films, promoting cultural exchange.
An immersive AI generative art installation, 'Algorithmic Organisms 2.0,' by Dutch artist 0010×0010, will be presented from July 4 to July 19 at The Grey Box, GMBB Kuala Lumpur.
