Taye Diggs' Microhouse Films Bows Thrillers at ALZA Fest

Microhouse Films, founded by Taye Diggs, is debuting its fall slate of original series this October. The election thriller "The Count" and the psychological thriller "Reunion Island" are among the new productions. "The Count," executive produced by Janessa Goldbeck and Eric Schmeltzer and directed by Gary and Edmund Entin, is set to premiere at the ALZA festival on October 18th.

"Reunion Island" will also have its premiere at the ALZA festival, marking a continued collaboration between Microhouse Films and Lifetime. The platform's mission, as stated by Diggs, is to provide filmmakers with a home where they own their stories and control audience reach. This approach aims to empower creators by removing traditional barriers to content creation, monetization, and audience access.

The platform is also adding Miranda Bailey, founder of Cold Iron Pictures, to its filmmaker slate. Bailey has written and directed "Another Happy Anniversary," a story based on her award-winning short film about a couple's adventurous anniversary that takes an unexpected turn. Additionally, Ben Ramsey has produced "Red Tail Mecha," an animated sci-fi saga inspired by the Tuskegee Airmen and Harlem Hellfighters, blending mecha warfare with African-diaspora futurism and musical elements.

The October releases will also feature a vertical horror titled "Children of the Void," a dark comedy called "Raccoon," and a musical drama named "Love, Jazzy." Further announcements regarding additional filmmakers and original content from Microhouse Films are expected in the coming months.
