Summary

- Chefs described their locations as being in the 'middle of nowhere'.
- Scotland now has 15 venues with Michelin culinary awards.

Scotland's culinary landscape has been enhanced with two remote Highland restaurants, Killiecrankie House and 1887, newly awarded Michelin stars. These accolades were announced at a ceremony in Dublin on February 10, 2026. Chefs Tom Tsappis and Danny Young of these establishments noted their secluded settings, humorously calling them the "middle of nowhere."
Killiecrankie House, located near Pitlochry, offers a tasting menu blending Scottish produce with Japanese influences. The Michelin Guide praised its transformation into a dining destination. Meanwhile, 1887 at the Torridon Hotel features locally sourced food, earning recognition for its ingredient-led philosophy and stunning Highland backdrop.
These awards bring Scotland's total number of Michelin-starred venues to 15. The country also holds two two-star restaurants, but currently no three-star establishments in the UK and Ireland guide for 2026. Additionally, three Scottish restaurants received Michelin green stars for sustainability.
