In 2025, Michael Stipe surprised audiences by joining the Shannon and Narducy R.E.M. tribute tour for shows in Athens and Brooklyn. During these performances, Stipe lent his voice to R.E.M. classics, including a rendition of 'Pretty Persuasion.'
To close out a show in Brooklyn, Stipe performed 'These Days,' celebrating the 40th anniversary of the R.E.M. album *Lifes Rich Pageant*, and 'The Great Beyond.' This marked the first time he had sung both tracks live since 2008.
While a full R.E.M. reunion remains unlikely, the band members are actively participating in celebrations of their musical legacy. This includes their appearances with Shannon and Narducy, as well as a surprise performance at the Songwriters Hall of Fame induction ceremony in June 2024.
