Michael Jackson's musical catalog continues to experience massive streaming gains three weeks after the release of the 'Michael' biopic. For the week of May 1-7, his solo songs accumulated 181.6 million official on-demand streams in the U.S., marking a 32% increase from the previous week's record.
"Billie Jean" led his catalog with 14.8 million streams, driving the track to re-enter the Billboard Hot 100 at number 17. "Beat It" and "Human Nature" also saw significant plays. Projections suggest Jackson's catalog could surpass 200 million streams in the coming week.
Despite not being featured in the 'Michael' film, Janet Jackson has also experienced a catalog boost. For the week ending May 7, her streams rose 31% to over 9.4 million. The duet "Scream" contributed nearly 1.2 million streams, but her solo catalog also saw a 20% increase.
Meanwhile, The Chemical Brothers' 2015 song "Go" is experiencing a resurgence, surging over 1,319% in streams in two weeks. The track's use in the Netflix survival thriller "Apex" and a viral dance challenge on TikTok have driven its popularity, pushing it to No. 9 on the Dance/Electronic Songs chart.
Katy Perry's 2011 hit "The One That Got Away" has also seen a significant revival, with streams up 118% over two months, reaching over 6.2 million streams for the week of May 1-7. The song's use in various social media trends, coupled with Perry's promotional activities including a new compilation album, has propelled it to No. 37 on the Billboard Global 200.
