Michael J. Fox Marks 25 Years of Parkinson's Research Foundation

As of November 2025, renowned actor Michael J. Fox, 64, is marking a significant milestone – the 25th anniversary of the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research. Fox, who was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease in 1991, founded the nonprofit organization in 2000 to accelerate the development of treatments and a cure for the debilitating condition.

In a recent event held in New York City, Fox expressed deep gratitude for the unwavering support of his wife, Tracy Pollan, and their four children – son Sam, 36, and daughters Esmé, 24, Aquinnah and Schuyler, 30. "They've always been there for me, and they continue to be for me, year after year," he said, reflecting on the challenges of living with Parkinson's.

The Michael J. Fox Foundation has become the largest nonprofit funder of Parkinson's research worldwide, endowing over $2.5 billion to advance the understanding and treatment of the disease, which currently has no cure.
