Jost's Chance: How SNL's Top Scribe Got His Gig

Michael Che recently disclosed that Colin Jost was instrumental in securing his role on "Saturday Night Live." Che's entry into the iconic sketch comedy show was not through a traditional route but stemmed from a serendipitous encounter at a New York comedy club.

This unexpected connection led to a guest writing opportunity during a period when SNL was experimenting with such formats. Che began his tenure at SNL as a writer in 2013, subsequently joining Jost on the "Weekend Update" desk for Season 40. He has since been a fixture on the show, contributing to its 40th and 50th anniversary celebrations.
