Michael Bisping, a former UFC champion, stars as the titular character in the action thriller "Atlas King." The film immerses viewers in the gritty Los Angeles mixed martial arts scene, where Bisping's character, Atlas, is a former champion resurfacing after a decade.
Atlas returns to Los Angeles for his mentor Dutch's funeral and is drawn back into a dangerous criminal underworld. He endeavors to protect Tommy, Dutch's son and a promising fighter, from the ruthless crime boss Clay, portrayed by Cuba Gooding Jr. This setup leads to intense confrontations.
Bisping, who also produced the film through their company Punch It Films, noted parallels between his own life and the character. He emphasized the importance of authentic fight choreography, drawing on his extensive martial arts background since childhood.
He also shared his initial pressure acting alongside Academy Award winner Cuba Gooding Jr., but found him to be warm and down-to-earth on set. Bisping praised co-star George Finn's dedication to training, which involved months of rigorous preparation to authentically portray a fighter.
