Summary
- M.I.A. claims Kid Cudi breached contract, owes $2,805,000.
- Lawsuit alleges tour removal was for publicity and hurt her reputation.
- She seeks damages, attorney fees, and a jury trial.

M.I.A. filed a lawsuit on May 29 against Kid Cudi, alleging breach of contract after her removal from his North American tour. She claims Cudi, whose real name is Scott Ramon Seguro Mescudi, terminated her performance to generate publicity for the struggling tour. Mathangi Arulpragasam, known as M.I.A., asserts this action constituted intentional interference with contractual relations.
The lawsuit states M.I.A. was contractually permitted to artistic freedom on stage. Her removal led to a failure to pay her $2,805,000 guarantee, loss of merchandise sales, and canceled VIP packages. She also claims subsequent rescinded performance offers and terminated business discussions.
Kid Cudi cited "offensive remarks" and fan complaints for M.I.A.'s dismissal. However, M.I.A. counters that Cudi's statement was "riddled with falsehoods." Her onstage comments in Dallas on May 2, where she identified as Republican and touched on immigration, went viral.
M.I.A. is demanding her full contractual payment, $75,000 in compensatory damages, punitive damages, and attorney fees. She also requests a jury trial, asserting her reputation and business opportunities were damaged in bad faith by Cudi's actions.
