Japanese music group MGA has achieved significant international acclaim, appearing at number 13 on the IFPI's Global Artist Chart for 2025. The album '10' features MGA's recent hits, including "Lilac," "Darling," and "Dance Hall." It recorded unprecedented first-week sales in Japan and has surpassed one million copies sold. Collectively, MGA's music has garnered over 16 billion streams within Japan, with multiple tracks maintaining chart presence.
Since their 2013 formation and 2015 major-label debut, MGA has been praised for songwriting, live performances, and frontman Motoki Ohmori's vocals. They have expanded beyond rock, incorporating dance, theatrical productions, and individual pursuits, evolving into a cultural icon with a nationwide following.
Motoki Ohmori, the band's producer, leads songwriting and visual direction, topping composer and lyricist charts for three years. Guitarist Hiloto Wakai and keyboardist Ryoka Fujisawa contribute to the band's unique sound. Their 2025 "MGA MAGICAL 10 YEARS" celebration included a five-dome tour, "BABEL no TOH," which drew 550,000 attendees.
Looking ahead, MGA released "lulu." in January 2026, the theme for "Frieren: Beyond Journey's End Season 2." They are also embarking on a six-date stadium tour, including four nights at Tokyo's MUFG Stadium. Their latest release, "Kaze to Machi," serves as the theme song for NHK's new morning drama "Kaze, Kaoru," with a new original album anticipated in the fall.
