Metroid Prime 4 Arrives Next Month with Groundbreaking Open World and Psychic Powers

Metroid Prime 4, the latest adventure starring Samus Aran, is just weeks away from its release on December 4, 2025. The game, which was first teased back in 2017, has undergone a significant transformation, introducing a number of exciting new features.

One of the biggest changes is the shift to an open-world environment. Previous Metroid Prime games typically confined players to linear environments like caverns, temples, or spaceships. However, in Metroid Prime 4, Samus will be able to freely explore the expansive planet of Viewros. To aid in her traversal, she has been equipped with a new bike called Vi-O-La.

In addition to the open-world exploration, Samus will also be gaining a new set of psychic abilities. These powers will allow her to manipulate energy and activate machinery using only her mind, providing her with a unique set of tools to overcome the challenges she faces.

The story of Metroid Prime 4 begins with Samus responding to a distress call from the Galactic Federation, which is under attack by a bounty hunter known as Sylux. This event leads to a disaster that transports Samus to the planet Viewros, where she must use her newfound abilities and the help of Galactic Federation troopers to find her way home.

Metroid Prime 4 will be available for both the original Nintendo Switch and the upcoming Switch 2 console. The Switch 2 version will feature an additional control option, allowing players to use a Joy-Con 2 as a mouse for a more precise FPS experience.
