Meryl Streep: Not Your Cool Grandma!

Meryl Streep recently discussed her experiences as a grandmother in a May 2026 interview, revealing she has six grandchildren under the age of ten.

When asked if her grandchildren perceive her as "cool," Streep, 76, humorously stated she's "a little like Miranda Priestly as a grandma" due to her adherence to rules.

She shared that her grandchildren affectionately call her "Mimi," a nickname originating from Mamie Gummer's 6-year-old son. Streep also detailed her enjoyment of reading books to them, complete with character voices, and recalled a humorous incident involving B.J. Novak's "The Book With No Pictures."

Reflecting on the preciousness of time, Streep described grandmotherhood as "divine" and noted the rapid passage of time, advising to "grab everything you can" from these moments.

She mentioned that her six grandchildren are spread across two coasts, requiring frequent travel. Streep also recalled reading the "Harry Potter" series to her now 34-year-old daughter, Louisa Jacobson.
