The annual Egremont Crab Fair, an event with origins tracing back to 1267, recently hosted its famed World Gurning Championships. This year's men's competition saw television personality Will Mellor secure a surprising second place.
Mellor, known for his roles in popular series, attended the event for a filming project. However, the coveted first prize was ultimately awarded to local contestant Ged Eccles. Eccles expressed his profound joy at achieving his first men's victory.
Eccles' win marks a significant moment, as he had previously been the junior champion in 1985 and had achieved second and third places in earlier championships. He believes his extra preparation contributed to his success this year.
