Melissa McCarthy graced Variety's 2026 Power of Women event in Beverly Hills on September 23, adorned in a stunning, intricately beaded black gown. The actress, accompanied by her husband Ben Falcone, showcased a remarkable 95lbs weight loss, highlighted by the dress's shimmering embellishments and flowing sheer cape panels. She reunited with her "Gilmore Girls" co-star Lauren Graham at the event.
The "Bridesmaids" star was honored for her significant support of the Joyful Heart Foundation, an organization dedicated to combating sexual assault, domestic violence, and child abuse. McCarthy has previously discussed her past extreme weight loss methods, including a four-month doctor-supervised liquid diet during her "Gilmore Girls" tenure, which resulted in a 70lbs loss but left her feeling "starved and crazy." She has since emphasized a more gradual and sustainable approach to health.
McCarthy explained that alleviating the pressure she placed on herself has transformed her relationship with her body. She shared on CBS Mornings that ceasing to constantly worry about her weight has been beneficial, leading to a more relaxed and less rigid mindset. This shift came after years of self-criticism regarding her appearance.
Looking ahead, McCarthy is set to star as Patsy Ramsey in the upcoming series "The Murder of JonBenét Ramsey," with a premiere date of December 10. She expressed initial hesitation but was drawn to portraying the grief and public scrutiny experienced by the Ramsey family. McCarthy and Falcone, married since October 2005, share daughters Vivian and Georgette and have a history of creative collaboration.
