Melissa Fumero: Beat Up Jake Peralta While 9 Months Pregnant!

Melissa Fumero recalled a particularly challenging time filming Brooklyn Nine-Nine while nearly nine months pregnant. During a reunion panel, she shared that she filmed a scene where her character, Amy Santiago, "beat up" Jake Peralta. Fumero revealed that her son, Enzo, was born just five days after this demanding sequence was shot, eliciting cheers from the audience.

Earlier in season three, Fumero, then six months pregnant, filmed a polar plunge scene. The actress explained that due to her advanced pregnancy, she needed to wear a large coat, which was not originally planned. She humorously described feeling her son performing "somersaults" in her stomach during the cold shoot.

Fumero, who welcomed Enzo in March 2016, later had her second child, Axel, in 2018. The show incorporated her second pregnancy into season seven, with her character Amy giving birth to Mac Peralta in the season finale.
