The Hubb Community Kitchen, a food charity in west London established after the 2017 Grenfell Tower fire, has reportedly stopped its operations. The organization, formed by survivors to provide meals to bereaved families, had received significant support from Meghan Markle. In 2018, the Duchess of Sussex collaborated with the Hubb Community Kitchen on a cookbook called 'Together: Our Community Cookbook,' which was published by Penguin Random House.
Meghan, who was a working royal at the time, frequently visited the kitchen and hosted its book launch at Kensington Palace. She described the kitchen as a place where women could "laugh, grieve, cry and cook together." Following her and Prince Harry's decision to step back from royal duties in 2020 and their subsequent move to the US, the charity's activity seems to have diminished.
While Meghan sent a voice message to the organization in 2022 marking the fifth anniversary of the Grenfell tragedy, it is unclear if there has been contact since. A spokesperson for the Hubb Community Kitchen confirmed to media outlets that their work has concluded. In recent years, Meghan's charitable focus has shifted to California through the Archewell Foundation.
