Raja Azreen, the drummer for the rock group Meditasi, died unexpectedly at the age of 56 while performing. He collapsed during the second song of the band's set at the Teruntum rock festival in Kuantan, Pahang, on July 18th.
Band members reported that Azreen fell into his drum kit. After being moved backstage, he was found to be cold to the touch and unresponsive. Azreen had reportedly been diagnosed with diabetes recently.
Meditasi, founded in 1984, achieved fame in the 1990s with hits like "Biar Pedih Kasih Memanjang." The band, which shifted to a more melodic rock sound, has released three studio albums.
The group plans to continue its activities despite the profound loss of their drummer, who joined Meditasi around the time of their debut album.
