McFly New Album: Pub Band Dreams to Arena Sounds

McFly is actively working on new music, with singer Danny Jones confirming that the band is in the studio recording their next album. The group's goal is to capture the spontaneous energy of performing in a pub, describing their desired sound as a "glorified pub band" that can still command arena stages.

Jones has cited the recently reunited Oasis as a key inspiration for the new material, admiring their ability to create universally sing-along songs. This approach aims to make the music feel accessible, reminiscent of the punk ethos where anyone could feel part of the music.

The band, formed in 2003, is focused on ensuring the new record fulfills all four members, a lesson learned from previous albums like "Radio:Active" and "Power To Play." These earlier works, while successful, sometimes leaned too heavily into pop or production, whereas the band found more profound satisfaction in songs that felt "badass" and "awesome."

This revelation comes as Danny Jones fronts Greene King's "Live At Your Local" campaign, an initiative supporting grassroots music with 1,000 free gigs in pubs across August and September.
