Rams QB Matthew Stafford Stars in Taylor Swift Music Video

Matthew Stafford, the quarterback for the Los Angeles Rams, made a surprise appearance in Taylor Swift's new music video for 'Patient Zero.' The video premiered on September 27, 2026, during the 2026 MTV Video Music Awards, catching many fans off guard. Stafford's cameo was not revealed in the initial teaser for the dark, cinematic video, which also stars Dakota Johnson and Colin Farrell.

Stafford and his wife, Kelly Stafford, appear in several scenes, including one where he shakes hands with Farrell's character and another where they dance together. This unexpected crossover between the NFL and the music world gained attention, especially since the Staffords had previously attended Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce's wedding. Swifties also noted an 'Aries' Easter egg in Stafford's appearance, a nod to the Rams.

The 'Patient Zero' video, which explores themes of psychological thrillers and true crime, premiered shortly after Swift accepted the MTV VMA Artist Director Honors. The song was released on September 25, 2026, as part of Swift's album 'The Life of a Showgirl: The Encore.'

In a remarkable coincidence, Stafford's music video appearance occurred on the same day he made NFL history. Just hours after the video premiere, Stafford took the field for Sunday Night Football, becoming the first quarterback to surpass 20,000 passing yards with two different teams. He achieved this milestone with the Rams against the Denver Broncos, adding another significant achievement to his busy Sunday.
