McConaughey's Son Nails Audition for Role in Dad's New Film

In September 2025, Matthew McConaughey, the acclaimed actor, embraced a patient approach when his eldest son, Levi, 17, expressed interest in auditioning for a supporting role in his new AppleTV+ film, The Lost Bus.

McConaughey, 55, initially pitched the film's story to his family, including Levi and his grandmother, Kay, 93. When Levi noticed the character's age matched his own and the role was still open, he asked to read for it. However, McConaughey held back, wanting to see how invested his son was in the opportunity.

Levi persisted, returning three more times to request the audition. Impressed by his son's determination, McConaughey ultimately "pulled out the camera" and shot Levi's audition tape. Levi nailed the audition, and the casting director was instructed to withhold his last name as a test of merit.

In a surprising twist, Kay also joined the cast in a small role as McConaughey's onscreen mother. When filming began, Levi was most proud of his preparation, though he admitted it was challenging to portray an on-screen fight with his father.

As Levi navigates his burgeoning acting career, McConaughey has imparted valuable lessons, emphasizing the importance of Levi maintaining his own identity and not letting the industry define him.
