Masters of the Universe Gets Surprise IMAX Upgrade

The Masters of the Universe film is set to receive a surprise release in IMAX theaters, accompanied by a newly revealed poster. This announcement comes as a notable shift, as such a release is typically promoted with advance notice. Studios usually inform audiences well ahead of time about blockbuster films being shown on the largest screens available.

The unexpected scheduling change is widely believed to be linked to the recent performance of The Mandalorian and Grogu. This film experienced a substantial decline in its second weekend at the domestic box office, particularly impacted by the releases of Backrooms and Obsession. While IMAX has not provided an official reason for the adjustment, speculation suggests that Masters of the Universe is being moved into these premium screens as a result of The Mandalorian's softer performance.

The full impact of the IMAX screenings on Masters of the Universe's opening weekend will become apparent next Monday. In the meantime, audiences can purchase tickets for the film in their preferred format.
