In November 2025, it was announced that Jon Watts, the director who shepherded the Spider-Man trilogy through the Marvel Cinematic Universe, will not be directing the upcoming Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Instead, Destin Daniel Cretton, the director of Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, has inherited the helming reins for the new Spider-Man movie.
