In a significant move, Kevin Feige, the president of Marvel Studios and chief creative officer at Marvel, has donated a "transformational gift" to the University of Southern California's School of Cinematic Arts. This endowment establishes the Kevin Feige Division of Film & Television, which will serve as a source of funding for faculty, students, and additional programmatic support.
The new Kevin Feige Division of Film & Television will offer students the opportunity to receive training in filmmaking across multiple mediums, from traditional principles to emerging industry practices, including virtual production, AI, and other cutting-edge tools. Elizabeth Daley, the Dean of the School of Cinematic Arts, praised Feige as "a remarkable storyteller who brings innovative and impactful cinema to our screens," and expressed delight that the Division of Film & Television Production will carry his name.
Feige, a graduate of the film and TV production division of the school, has served as a member of the School of Cinematic Arts' Board of Councilors. As the president of Marvel Studios, he has produced 37 films that have opened at #1 at the box office, collectively grossing over $32 billion globally, with 11 of them crossing the $1 billion mark worldwide. Feige was also nominated for an Oscar as the producer of the 2018 hit "Black Panther."
