He explained that his daughter battled severe mental health challenges, including borderline personality disorder, for a significant duration. He drew a parallel between his wife's dying words asking him to 'let her go' and his daughter's similar pleas.

This personal loss follows other significant family tragedies, including the deaths of his older brother, parents, and wife Nancy Dolman in 2010. Despite these profound hardships, Short is maintaining resilience. He is preparing for another season of his acclaimed show 'Only Murders in the Building' and has plans to return to Broadway.
