Legendary Comic Creator Millar Launches Kickstarter for Epic Fantasy Conquest Series

In September 2025, renowned comic book writer Mark Millar is launching a Kickstarter campaign for his new fantasy series 'Conquered'. The project, which has been quietly in development since the start of 2025, envisions a portal opening in the middle of New York City, unleashing a fantastical invasion of America by dragons, orcs, and barbarians.

Millar, who first pitched a similar concept called 'Conquered' when he was just 13 years old, has now teamed up with artist Valerio Giangiordano, known for his work on Millar's 'Nemesis: Rogue's Gallery' and Todd McFarlane's 'Spawn' series. Giangiordano considers 'Conquered' his biggest undertaking yet, as he brings an entire world at war with fantasy creatures to life.

The Kickstarter campaign, which runs throughout October 2025, aims to fund the first of four planned volumes for the series. Millar describes the project as a blend of 'Independence Day' and 'Game of Thrones', promising a grounded and character-driven story amidst the fantastical invasion. This new series stands separate from Millar's ongoing work with Netflix, which acquired his Millarworld company in 2017.
