Hamill believes Filoni is exceptionally well-suited to guide the Star Wars franchise, emphasizing his profound understanding of its lore, gained through his work with George Lucas on "Star Wars: The Clone Wars." The actor also noted Filoni's contributions to recent Disney+ series like "The Mandalorian" and "The Book of Boba Fett," which Hamill described as "great stuff."

Hamill reflected on his past collaborations with Filoni and acknowledged his work with director Rian Johnson on "The Last Jedi." While he initially expressed reservations about Luke Skywalker's character arc in that film, Hamill clarified that he respects Johnson's directorial talent and that his public feedback was meant constructively. He also confirmed his decision not to return as Luke Skywalker, stating his time with the character has passed and that the focus should shift to new characters.
